Michael Schumacher has denied that he has agreed to extend his contract with Mercedes in a deal which would see him with the team until 2013.
The German’s current contract expires at the end of next season, having agreed a three-year deal starting in 2010.
However, the German media recently reported that the 42-year-old had agreed to stay on for an extra year, taking that deal to four in total, matching Nico Rosberg’s new contract which was announced on Thursday.
Schumacher denied the reports when the questions was put to him prior to the Abu Dhabi GP.
“I need a little bit more time to see,” he said. “It is sort of about myself and how we are heading and also some input to see if that is what I want or not.
“According to some journalists, I have [extended it]. The reality is no, because I told you already several times that this is not the time to talk about it.
“Most important is do I feel it? Do I want it or not? That is something we will find out in the future. Not right now.”
