Ferrari’s Stefano Domenicali has quelled recent speculation that Nico Rosberg may replace Felipe Massa at the Italian outfit for next season.
Rumours suggested the German had visited the Maranello factory in October, something the Mercedes driver denies.
“This is all nonsense. I was not at Maranello. My dream is to win with the Silver Arrows [Mercedes],” Rosberg is quoted as saying by the DAPD news agency.
Meanwhile, adding fuel to the fire, former driver and now BBC pundit, David Coulthard, suggested the Brazilian’s recent performances, in which he has failed to finish on the podium since Korea 2010, don’t warrant a seat with Ferrari.
“In F1, you’re always under pressure. Massa may know his career is coming to an end. With these results, he’ll not be at Ferrari much longer,” the former Red Bull and McLaren driver told The Sun.
However, Domenicali has moved to put and end to the rumours whilst speaking in Mugello. The 46-year-old is adamant that Massa will continue to partner Fernando Alonso.
“As for the rumours regarding all the drivers who are due to arrive in Maranello to replace him [Massa], I can only repeat my words and indeed those only recently uttered by our President, in every possible way, Felipe will also be with us in 2012 and that should make you understand how much faith we have in him.”
