The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will feature two independent DRS-zones, as was the case at the inaugural Indian GP a week ago.
The first zone will be placed on the longest straight on the circuit between turns seven and eight. The detection point will be a hundred or so metres before the tight hairpin of seven, before activation half-way down the straight, giving drivers their best chance to pass into the eight/nine chicane.
The second zone comes up immediately after, with detection at turn nine and activation after the slight curve of ten, before braking into the three-corner complex of 11, 12 and 13.
The Yas Marina circuit isn’t known for its overtaking, as last year saw one of the most processional races in recent memory as Sebastian Vettel clinched his maiden title. The organisers abandoned plans to alter the track in the hope that DRS and Pirelli tyres would be enough to encourage some overtaking.
