Bernie Ecclestone says he has full confidence that Lewis Hamilton will bounce back from his current dip in form, describing it as a ‘rough period’.
The 81-year-old spoke to the McLaren driver in India and, despite a recent run of bad luck and minor mistakes, the F1 mogul says he’ll rebound back to his former self soon.
“In life you go through ups and downs, and I think he is just going through a bit of a rough period generally in his life,” said Ecclestone about Hamilton on Tuesday.
“When life is easy you get lucky and everything goes well. When things start going wrong they start piling up and going more wrong.
“He will get out of it. I spoke to him here in India. He is great. He will be okay.”
He also played down the current on-track magnetism between the 2008 champion and Felipe Massa. The pair have collided five times this season, but Ecclestone says it isn’t intentional.
“It is not intentional, is it?” he added. “These things happen. It is just really strange that it always happens between those two.”
