Mark Webber says he doesn’t want the help of his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, to secure second in the drivers’ championship.
The Australian currently lies fourth, just 14 points away from Jenson Button who maintains the runner-up position.
There has been talk that Red Bull will ask Vettel to help Webber, possibly meaning that the German would sacrifice a win if Webber was in second, but the 35-year-old says he doesn’t want Vettel to give up positions for him.
“Nothing will be different,” he said after qualifying. “There’s been a lot of talk from the team but no talk from me.
“I don’t want any positions off Sebastian, for the remainder of the year. Nothing will change.”
