Billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz says he has no plans to sell his Toro Rosso outfit, despite him owning two teams, the other being championship leaders, Red Bull.
It had been rumoured that Toro Rosso had or would be sold to Abu Dhabi investment company International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) in the near-future, amid increased sponsorship from several of its companies which include CEPSA, Nova Chemicals and Falcon Bank.
Mateschitz however, says he has no plans to sell up completely, but would consider a partner, as he previously had in the form of Gerhard Berger.
“No,” he told the Independent newspaper when the question was put to him, adding: “although partnerships would not be ruled out, as long as the partner is the right one.”
He also has no plans to sell the Red Bull team which looks set to retain both titles, nor does he believe a title sponsor will be secured in the near-future: “[It’s] difficult to find one due to the strength of the Red Bull brand.
“The return on investment [for Red Bull] is the marketing value, which depends on the race performance and results.”
