Felipe Massa has criticised Lewis Hamilton after the pair tussled during their outlaps in the final qualifying session.
The incident happend when four cars, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Massa and Hamilton all left the pits at the same time which led to a train of cars circulating the track to begin their ‘flying’ laps.
Hamilton attempted to pass the Brazilian after being held up for several corners and the pair narrowly avoided a collision. The McLaren driver managed to get past at turn 21 which meant Massa had to back-off to create a gap.
“To be honest I don’t understand what he wanted to do,” Massa told Autosport after the session.
“Three cars were going slow to prepare the lap and he was trying to…I don’t know. Ask him. To be in a condition to touch someone on the out lap? And do another mistake? I think he didn’t use his mind again.”
Massa believes the tussle cost him when it came to setting his timed lap.
“Yes, a little bit, but anyway I am sure he didn’t prepare his lap as well, so to be honest I don’t understand it. You just need to ask him because maybe he thinks differently to what is the right direction.”
