First practice for the Singapore Grand Prix was delayed by 30 minutes due to urgent track repairs, and therefore shortened to just 60 minutes, rather than the usual 90 to meet the mandatory two-hour gap between FP1 and FP2 as stipulated by the sporting regulations.
The FIA confirmed that the session would be delayed just ten minutes prior to its start, which caused some confusion among the teams and drivers.
The issues arised during the Porsche support race as heavy use of temporary plastic kerbing at turns 3 and 14 caused it to lift and become loose. After inspection by FIA safety delegates Charlie Whiting and Herbie Blash, it was deemed that the kerbs should be removed.
