McLaren and Red Bull will race in India a little earlier than planned as both teams announced they would take part in demo runs through Bangalore and Delhi respectively.
Vodafone Eassar, an Indian subsidiary of McLaren title sponsor Vodafone, has organised the event in Bangalore which will see Lewis Hamilton race down the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor on September 27th, just days after the Singapore GP.
Meanwhile, Red Bull will take to the Rajpath boulevard in Delhi, starting at the Rashtrapati Bhavan running through to the National Stadium.
HRT driver and Red Bull junior, Daniel Ricciardo, will be behind the wheel of the RB showcar on October 1st. He will be accompanied by other entertainment, including stunt motorcyclists.
A representative of the Confederation of Indian Industry, described the event as a ‘curtain raiser’ to the inaugural Indian GP which takes place just four weeks later.
“We’re speaking to some dignitaries, and we expect to have representatives from the government including ministers, Bollywood and sports flagging off the event at India Gate,” he said.
“The event should start at 2pm, go on until 4.30pm and is more like a curtain raiser for the Indian Grand Prix.”
