Bruno Senna may have had the perfect day on Saturday, after qualifying seventh, but Sunday didn’t quite go to plan thanks to his inexperience on high fuel loads.
The Brazilian failed to spot his braking point correctly as he entered turn one which resulted in heavy contact with Jaime Alguersuari which ended the Toro Rosso drivers race immediately.
Senna meanwhile went onto finish 13th having had to pit on lap one to change his front-wing, which dropped him to last place.
“Unfortunately I made a mistake in the first corner, which cost me the chance of really causing a stir at the top end for the remainder of the race,” said Senna.
He went on to apologise for ending Alguersuari’s race prematurely after the Spaniard also achieved his best grid position the previous day.
“So, firstly I would like to say sorry to Jaime [Alguersuari] for that. I made a mistake in the braking area, so that meant I slipped back and couldn’t compete where I wanted to.”
