Red Bull look set to demo their showcar in Austin, Texas, for the first time to promote the return of the sport to the country in 2012.
A permit has been filed with the city, requesting the closure of Congress Avenue between 15th street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from 7am (CDT) to noon this Saturday (20th), according to the Statesman.
The permit offers very little in the way of detail, but mentions an F1 car, trailer and three cameras.
The event, the first of its kind in Texas, isn’t connected to the Circuit of the Americas, the location of the 2012 event. It has been organised by Red Bull.
“It is exciting that Red Bull, the defending world champion and current points leader, is interested in promoting Austin to its global fan base,” said circuit Executive Vice President Bruce Knox.
“The event will be directly managed and produced by Red Bull’s promotional team, one that has produced many world-class events.”
The driver behind the wheel will likely be former-F1 driver, David Coulthard.
