Vitantonio Liuzzi has declared HRT’s second season a success so far, but says the aim remains the same, and that’s to beat Team Lotus.
The Spanish outfit managed to beat Virgin in their rookie year, and once again they’re ahead in the standings with Liuzzi having finished 13th in Canada, compared to Virgin’s two 14th place finishes thanks to Jerome d’Ambrosio.
Meanwhile, Team Lotus are only just holding onto tenth in the championship courtesy of Jarno Trulli and his two 13th places finished in Australia and Monaco.
Finishing tenth would be the perfect way to finish the season, according to the Italian.
“I already consider it a successful season but if we could achieve our biggest target of finishing 10th in the Constructors’ Championship, then that would be perfect,” said Liuzzi.
“We would love to be ahead of Team Lotus but it is not an easy target, especially if you look at where we started in Australia.”
The 30-year-old remains upbeat about the teams prospects however and with eight races remaining, anything could happen.
“We are on the same points [0] and have half a season to improve and try and achieve a better position in the Constructors’ Championship. We are following the right path and are in the right place,” he concluded.
