The teams are unhappy with the 2012 calendar presented to them by Bernie Ecclestone this weekend, with many citing concern over the logistics involved in the final few races.
The new calendar sees seven races take place in just ten weeks, with the Japanese/Korean, Abu Dhabi/Bahrain and the US/Brazilian races taking place as back-to-back events.
The teams believe this will create a logistical nightmare as the events take place on three different continents and will require rapid air-freight rather than road-freight as they’re all flyaway races.
FOTA deputy chairman and Renault team principal Eric Boullier says the teams through FOTA will likely present their own calendar to Eccelstone and the FIA in the hope they can reduce the logistical stresses.
“We want to stimulate thinking about it [the calendar] again,” he told Motorsport-Total. “We can certainly find an easier solution to cope logistically and maybe even a little cheaper.
“We have already exchanged some suggestions with other teams,” confirmed the Frenchman.
Ecclestone presented his proposed calendar earlier this week, but the final decision lies with the FIA and WMSC who will vote before issuing a finalised version.
