Nico Rosberg will get the opportunity to drive Juan Manuel Fangio’s Mercedes-Benz W196 from 1954 next weekend on the Nordschleife as part of a demonstration run.
The W196 debuted at the 1954 French Grand Prix and went on to win the race with Fangio behind the wheel. The car took four victories that season, including the German GP, and a further five in 1955.
“Coming to the Nürburgring for the German Grand Prix always feels very special to me,” commented Rosberg. “There is so much history around this amazing track, especially for Mercedes-Benz with great drivers from the past having had such successful times on the Nürburgring and the legendary Nordschleife.
“This year, I will have the opportunity to drive Juan Manuel Fangio’s car from 1954 on the amazing old circuit, and that will be very special.”
