The Silverstone organisers have confirmed the final attendance figures for the British Grand Prix were better than forecast.
As earlier reported, Friday’s figure was a record at 88,000, up 3,000 on 2010.
Saturday saw a record 105,000 fans pack the grandstands and general admission areas whilst Sunday was also a record breaker with 122,000 in attendance.
Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, thanked the fans for making the event the best in the world.
“With record crowds on all three days, this year’s British Grand Prix is one of the biggest in recent history,” he said.
“The fans’ support is exceptional and once again they’ve played their part in making the event a huge success and the best grand prix in the world.”
