Michael Schumacher is adamant he’ll be racing in Formula 1 with Mercedes next season as part of his three-year contract signed at the start of 2010.
The 42-year old made his racing return last season but a disappointing comeback has led to many speculating he may retire at the end of the year after revealing the final year of his contract is optional.
However, the Mercedes driver has denied such speculation and plans to stick out for the full three-years.
“I have always had the option to stop at any time, if I wanted to,” he told the media on Thursday. “But I have always said that this is a three-year programme and that’s what it is.
“It did actually take me a while to get back into to the habit of the whole working arrangement and I guess that’s all a lot easier for me now, but what I do still understand is that I’m learning how to work with the team more and getting the car to work for me.
“There’s no magic in getting back up front. It’s just all about the timing, steady progress, staying motivated and working hard.”
He currently sits tenth in the standings, just six points behind teammate Nico Rosberg.
