Sebastian Vettel has defended his one finger celebration which is quickly becoming his trademark.
The German throws his hand in the air and points his index finger to celebrate pole or a race win, but the sign annoys some fans who believe it’s a sign of arrogance.
Vettel is keen to continue the tradition which has been a feature of every race this season after securing all but one pole and two race wins.
“It was never my intention to make it a trademark,” he said. “I was so happy because we were always like 17th, 15th, 10th, or maybe seventh on a good day [with the Toro Rosso].
“There is no deeper meaning. I do it after qualifying but [that’s] not to say I will be first in the race.
“It’s funny, I hear some people like it, some people get offended. Unfortunately there will always be some people offended by what you do, but that’s how it is,” added Vettel.
