The two Virgin MVR-02 cars will carry ‘Cars 2’ branding for the British Grand Prix in a one-race deal, the outfit has confirmed.
The new Pixar film features the voices of Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso (Spanish version) and Vitaly Petrov (Russian version) among many more.
The deal will officially be launched today by Virgin CEO and title sponsor of the Virgin outfit, Sir Richard Branson and daughter Holly during a parade in London which features life-size characters from the film.
“We are very excited to be partnering with ‘Cars 2’,” said Andy Webb, CEO of Marussia Virgin Racing. “To be associated with Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios is a real privilege for us.
“Our home race, the British Grand Prix, is shaping up to be a thrilling weekend on and off the race track and ‘Cars 2’ will really bring our fan experience alive.”
Lee Jury, Vice President Marketing, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures EMEA added: “Disney-Pixar is extremely thrilled for its latest animated movie ‘Cars 2’ to be joining forces with the Marussia Virgin Racing team at the British Grand Prix.
“In this second instalment of the much-loved franchise, our hero Lightning McQueen is joined by a host of new characters including Francesco, a Formula car audiences will see alongside McQueen branded on the Marussia Virgin Racing race cars.
“The comedy spy adventure also includes an action-packed race around the iconic landmarks of London. It is the perfect media partnership, with the race just one week before the UK Premiere of ‘Cars 2’.”
