FIA president Jean Todt says at least one race will be dropped from the 2012 calendar, but as of yet, it isn’t known which race that will be.
A provisional 21-race calendar was released by the governing body last week which detailed all current races this season and the inclusion of the United States GP on June 17th.
Todt says this won’t be the case come next season.
“There are 21 dates, but the championship will be 20 grands prix,” he told Diario Sport.
The Turkish GP looks most likely to be dropped as they are yet to confirm a new contract with the rights’ holder. It even appeared on the provisional calendar with an asterisk next to it.
The Frenchman though couldn’t confirm if it would be the event facing the chop.
“We don’t know which one will go, but the championship will be 20 races,” he confirmed.
