The FIA stewards have opted to allow both Hispania cars to start the race on Sunday in Monaco, despite neither taking part in the qualifying session.
Vitantonio Liuzzi was ruled out following a third practice accident at turn one, which destroyed the rear of his F111. The team admitted it wouldn’t be repairable before Q1.
Meanwhile Narain Karthikeyan’s car suffered a suspension problem at the rear which also meant he couldn’t set a single lap during the session.
The decision to allow them to race was taken, in part, by looking at their FP3 times which were both within the 107% rule, taken from the fastest lap in Q1 by Lewis Hamilton, a 1:15.207.
Karthikeyan will start in 23rd, Liuzzi 24th for tomorrow’s race – though they could be promoted a place if Sergio Perez is unable to compete following his Q3 crash.
