Fernando Alonso set the pace during second practice on Thursday, improving on his 2nd place in FP1.
Lewis Hamilton came in just over 0.15s behind the Spaniard. The two McLaren’s were split by the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.
Sebastian Vettel took fifth position, but his team-mate, Mark Webber, could only manage eight after suffering KERS problems – ending a poor Thursday for the Australian after gearbox troubles during FP1.
Second practice saw less drama than the first, but Vitaly Petrov managed to hit the barrier after exiting the tunnel, swiping his front-wing clean off. He did however manage to recover to the pits.
