The FIA has come to a decision after deliberating whether or not Ferrari’s new rear-wing fell foul of the technical regulations.
The wing has been deemed illegal by the governing body, meaning Ferrari must revert to their older spec ran in Turkey, for this weekends race.
As we reported yesterday, the FIA’s technical delegate, Charlie Whiting, made it clear that questions had been raised over the height of the slot supports specified in article 3.10.3 of the technical regulations.
“It is article 3.10.3, which deals with slot gaps separators, the devices which are normally just vertical, which keep the distance between the profiles constant,” he explained on Friday evening after second practice.
Adding: “We had an issue with changing profiles a few years ago. The separators can’t be more than 200mm apart. It’s an alternative interpretation of that rule that we are currently discussing.”
