Felipe Massa needn’t worry about his future at Ferrari, the companies president, Luca di Montezemolo, has confirmed.
The Brazilian hasn’t been as competitive as his team-mate, though some of that can be out down to poor strategic decisions and slow pitstops, particularly in Turkey.
Montezemolo has however quashed any rumours that he is on his way out, saying there is “no question about” his contract for 2012.
When asked if Massa would be with the team next year, he replied: “Yes, he has a contract with us for this year and for next year – so absolutely yes, no question about it,” he told CNN in an interview.
On the subject of Massa’s teammate, Fernando Alonso, who took the teams maiden podium of the 2011 season last weekend, Montezemolo says he hoped to keep the Spaniard “for a long time.”
“He is one of the best drivers I have seen in my career, very strong in the mind, pushing with the team in a constructive way, very close to the team,” he added. “So I want to have Alonso for a long time.”
