Team Lotus hope to start scoring some points when the Formula One circus heads to Barcelona in just under four weeks time.
That is the view of chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne. The former McLaren employee, among others, believes a ‘major’ upgrade package for the T128 will enable them to score their very first point since joining the sport at the beginning of 2010.
“With the three races coming up, our major update is coming along for Barcelona,” he said in a video on the teams YouTube channel. “It will be a major update to the diffuser and rear-end of the car and will bring quite a lot of performance.
“We’ve got some other small updates for Barcelona and some other smaller updates for Turkey as well. Monaco is straight after [Barcelona] with just one week inbetween and that’s a very special race in terms of the nature of the circuit.
“I think looking at scoring points we have to look at Barcelona onwards, I think the updates to the car [there] will be significant, so Barcelona onwards,” he added.
