The United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas will officially be held at the ‘Circuit of the Americas’ track.

The new name was announced during a press conference not far from the site of the circuit which is currently under construction.

The inaugural F1 race is set to take place in mid-2012.

MotoGP will also use the track from 2013 onwards it was announced.

Tavo Hellmund, promoter of the race, added that the track could see two additional championships use the circuit alongside F1 and MotoGP, but he stopped short of announcing which two.

The corners will also be named after Texan legends and landmarks, refraining from selling the naming rights’ to large companies.
