Expect more overtaking using the adjustable rear-wing in Malaysia this weekend, that’s the view of Nick Heidfeld.
The new-for-2011 system didn’t live up to the hype in Australia, with pundits and even some drivers suggesting overtaking would be too easy with the new system.
That wasn’t the case in Melbourne, with drivers unable to get close enough in the final few corners due to their high speed nature.
The slower apex speeds in Malaysia, plus an extended ‘active’ area should, according to the Renault driver, create more passes.
“I think it should have a bigger impact there [in Malaysia],” he said.
“Overtaking has always been easier in Malaysia because of the circuit design. You have long straights followed by slow apex corners and we should see more action. “
