Mark Webber led the first practice session of the 2011 season, heading a Red Bull 1-2 ahead of team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

The Australian set a best laptime of 1:26.831, the only driver to get below 1:27.

The session began with Karun Chandhok losing the rear of his Team Lotus T128 and hitting the wall, ending his session after just a single lap.

Several other drivers made off-track excursions, including Felipe Massa, Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg.
