The Bahrain Grand Prix looks unlikely to be rescheduled for later in the season after the country’s government declared a state of emergency on Tuesday.
The FIA has given the organisers until May 1st to officially apply for the race to be rescheduled, but the state of emergency will stay in place for three months, taking it well past the deadline.
That decision will all but write-off any chance of the race taking place, even if it were to be the last or penultimate race of the year.
It comes after two people were killed during protests on Tuesday, despite neighbouring help from other Gulf states to stem any violence.
