Day four goes to Schumacher and Mercedes

Michael Schumacher put the Mercedes at the top of the leaderboard on day four of the final pre-season test in Barcelona with his team-mate, Nico Rosberg, third quickest.

Fernando Alonso split the two Mercedes drivers with a lap +0.365 slower than the seven-time world champion.

Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barrichello rounded off the top five quickest cars.

Sebastian Vettel caused a red flag when his RB7 stopped at the end of the pit lane. The current champion had a quiet day completing just 64 laps.

The majority of times today came during qualifying runs with low fuel. Though a small handful of drivers such as Jenson Button completed high fuel runs without attempting a low fuel qualifying lap.

Hispania also debuted their car today, the F111, however a lack of spares meant they couldn’t run a single lap.

Just one days testing remains, with only Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Williams and Hispania in attendance.
