Former Renault managing director Bob Bell has been confirmed as Mercedes new technical director.
Bell joined Renault in 2001 having previously worked with McLaren, Benetton and Jordan.
He tookover the managing director role when Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds were dismissed following the Singapore ‘crash-gate’ scandal.
He left the team in 2010 when Eric Boullier was appointed to the position of team principal.
He now joins the Brackley based outfit for the 2011 season.
Team principal Ross Brawn said: “Bob’s appointment is a key step in the strengthening of our excellent technical team and we are pleased to have recruited one of the most experienced engineers in the sport.”
