Michael Schumacher set the time to beat in Jerez during day two of testing at the Spanish circuit.
The Mercedes driver set a lap of 1:20.352 leaving him top come the end of the session.
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa was demoted one place from his fastest time on day one, ending the session second, just a few thousandths behind the German and three tenths quicker than his day one best.
Jenson Button got his first laps in the MP4-26, placing third – his best time coming late in the afternoon. It was a similar story for Jaime Alguersuari. The Toro Rosso driver managed to outpace the sister team of Red Bull.
Webber did impress when he completed a 19-lap run consistently in the 1.24’s, something nobody has yet to match.
Sauber has a promising start before Perez crashed at turn seven, damaging the front end of the C30.
Vitaly Petrov caused a second red flag when he span at turn two, followed by a third red flag caused by Pastor Maldonado’s accident at turn four.
