Hispania are confident they will be at the first race in Bahrain and, not only that, but the first winter tests in February.
This reassurance will come as a relief after the outfit were left without a chassis builder when a technical partnership between themselves and Toyota Motorsport fell through.
Team owner Jose Ramon Carabante told Radio Marca that the 2011 car was already well advanced under the directorship of Geoff Willis – former Red Bull technical director.
“The car is partly being built in Germany and partly in England and it will be ready for the season,” urged Carabante.
“We have been working on it for a while now and it will be in Bahrain for definite. This time we will also be at the winter tests.”
The financial outlook of the team may also change within the next few weeks as Carabante is expecting to announce a ‘major sponsor’, confirming talks were well-advanced.
“Soon we will announce a major sponsor, negotiations are well advanced. It’s one of the five most important companies in Spain,” he added.
Despite the good news, he did admit sponsors were shying away from supporting the team.
“You go to large companies in this country and tell them that with their support you can have a Toyota chassis, the use of their facilities and be in the top eight from time to time but they don’t support you.
“We have a Spanish team which would be even more Spanish with a driver like [Pedro] De la Rosa, but the companies don’t follow.”
