Nico Rosberg is confident the Mercedes GP team will get it right ‘sooner or later’, despite admitting they quite far behind Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren.
The German only managed to reach the podium on three occasions in 2010; Malaysia, China and Britain, whilst his team-mate, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, only managed fourth on three occasions.
The results were less than impressive considering the team came off the back of a double world championship win under the Brawn GP branding.
Nonetheless, Rosberg knows the team has a strong structure which will allow it to fightback in 2011.
“The expertise is there, we just need a little time to get everything going in the right direction,” he told Auto Bild.
“We are on the right track. Ross Brawn has got the team structure right and, sooner or later, it will happen.
“It is only a question of whether we manage to achieve it in time for the beginning of the [2011] season because we must not forget that the gap [between us and the frontrunners] is already quite large.”
