Mark Webber’s long-term partner of 15 years says he’ll get over the disappointment of losing out on what could have been his first F1 title.
Webber went into the latter half of the season favourite as he led the championship by a healthy margin. However, without a win in the last seven races of the season and a small error in Korea which saw him retire, he dropped to third, behind team-mate Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso.
“I’m sure he’ll be a bit disappointed but he’ll get over it,” his partner, Ann Neal, told Perth Now.
“There are plenty of people who haven’t had opportunities like him so he can’t be grumbling about it.”
Neal highlighted his victory around the streets of Monaco as one of his greatest achievements during the 2010 season, admitting it was the next best thing to the drivers’ crown.
“He’s had some fantastic highlights this year,” she added. “No-one can take away him winning Monaco because it’s the blue ribbon event that everyone wants to win.
“If you can’t win the world title [at least] you can say you’ve got Monaco under your belt.”
