Pastor Maldonado will test for the Hispania outfit for three of the four test days scheduled after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The current GP2 champion is also scheduled to test for Williams during the young driver test.
Whilst the first test makes sense, the final two days, which will take place during the Pirelli tyre test are slightly odd. Maldonado doesn’t have experience in an F1 car, and will therefore be unable to offer as much feedback on the tyres as an experienced driver.
This news suggests he could be lining-up to join Hispania in 2011, bringing his many millions of backing to the Spanish outfit.
Nevertheless, the Venezuelan says he is excited to test for the outfit.
“It will be something special to test with Hispania Racing after being the GP2 champion. It will definitely be an experience and one I am looking forward to very much,” he said.
“The three days will be very important. I hope to contribute to the development of the team and to accumulate as much experience as possible.
“My previous experience will be very important, at this test in particular. Having the experience that I do can only help me adapt to a new, more complex category. I know as well that it has only increased my determination to be successful.”
