Sebastian Vettel looks to have taken a small dig at his team-mate, Mark Webber, after both drivers retired from the Korean Grand Prix.
The German driver retired after an engine failure, unlike Webber, who lost the rear of his car and ended up hitting the wall and Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes, thanks to the difficult conditions.
Vettel was quick to point out the fact his incident wasn’t down to his driving, whereas Webber’s mistake was completely human error.
“It was such a hard moment [when my engine blew],” Vettel told the Daily Mail.
“With Mark’s crash it was hard for us as a team, but when I look at myself I know the reason for the failure was not my fault, [It] was nothing to do with my performance or speed.
“At the time there was no sign of the engine defect. In turn 17 I suddenly lost a row of cylinders and had strong vibrations. Only half the engine was working.”
The strong, but subtle words, come after Vettel slipped to fourth in the championship. The remark will likely be aimed at trying unsettle Webber, currently in second.
