Kimi Raikkonen has put an end to the recent news that he could possibly return to Formula One with Renault next season.
The news came as it was reported that his managers made contact with the Enstone based outfit a few weeks ago, however Raikkonen admitted it was just a passing interest “and that is all.”
Raikkonen, whom currently competes in the WRC with the Junior Citroen team, expressed his disappointment in seeing his name used to create publicity for the now Genii investment owned Renault team.
“I am very disappointed that they have used my name for their own marketing purposes,” he told Turun Sanomat.
“I never seriously considered driving for Renault, and I can assure you one hundred percent that I will not be driving for Renault next year,” he concluded.
The latest quotes from the Finn will likely disappoint many F1 fans who were looking forward to the possibility of seeing the ex-McLaren and Ferrari driver return to the sport in which he made his name.
