Kimi Raikkonen has expressed an interest to return to Formula One next season with the Renault team.
The ex-Ferrari driver, now Rally driver, contacted the team after their strong performance in Belgium earlier this month.
Renault team principal Eric Boullier, said the Finnish driver was on his radar to possibly replace rookie, Vitaly Petrov, after they made contact.
“It is true that the summer has passed and we have had more and more requests – and the guy you mentioned [Raikkonen] is on the radar now,” Boullier confirmed to Autosport.
“He is on the radar because he contacted us.”
However, it might not be quite that easy for Raikkonen after Boullier admitted Petrov wasn’t far from keeping his seat after putting in some impressive performances of late.
