The Italian aerodynamics company, Aerolab, has successfully forced the Force India team to pay over €1 million (£880,000) in unpaid fees after suing the Silverstone based team.
The legal action came to be after Force India used Aerolab’s wind tunnel, it seems, without paying. However, the ordeal is far from over as Force India are counter-suing over wind-tunnel models used for Lotus, which the team believe to be based on their chassis.
A statement from Aerolab hints that the company will launch further legal action when the F1 circus moves to Italy, where Force India’s assets will be under Italian jurisdiction.
“It appears that Force India’s strategy will be to try and force Aerolab into a settlement that the company has no intention of accepting.
“The upcoming Italian Grand Prix at Monza, during which Force India’s assets will be present under Italian jurisdiction, could trigger further exchanges of action between the two parties.”
Force India have been ordered to pay €1,074,730, plus damages and interest at a rate of eight per cent.
