Mercedes GP have been fined $50,000 (£32,000) for the unsafe release of Nico Rosberg during his pitstop on lap 16 of the Hungarian GP.
A safety car period, the result of debris from Vitantonio Liuzzi’s front-wing, led to the majority of the grid pitting.
As Rosberg left his pit-box, the right-rear wheel came loose and left the German with just three new Bridgestone’s.
The loose wheel trundled down the pitlane narrowly avoiding the Sauber mechanics before hitting some equipment which flicked the tyre into the air before it was caught by Williams mechanic, Nigel Hope.
Nobody was seriously injured in the incident which could have ended far worse.
