Hispania have confirmed today that Sakon Yamamoto will get another chance to drive for the team when he replaced Karun Chandhok at next week’s German Grand-Prix.
Japan-born Yamamoto replaced Bruno Senna at the British Grand-Prix after it was reported that Yamamoto’s sponsors paid $5million for the seat – a much needed cash injection for HRT.
Although HRT have said that Indian, Karun Chandhok, is still very much part of the team, they don’t expect him to be back in the car until later in the season.
“After Sakon Yamamoto gave a very positive performance in Silverstone, the team has decided to give the Japanese driver another opportunity to drive the car alongside Bruno Senna,” a HRT team statement read.
“Karun Chandhok is still part of the Hispania Racing, HRT F1 Team family and is likely to be in the car at some later races this season.”
The Japanese driver finished 20th at Silverstone, just behind Chandhok.
