Sebastian Vettel is expecting a tough battle in Canada as new championship leaders, McLaren, look to be favourites to secure the win.
Whilst Vettel enjoys the track, he knows it isn’t best suited to the RB6 which enjoys fast, sweeping corners like those in Barcelona and Turkey.
“It’s a very nice track – I like it,” he told the Red Bull website.
“On paper, it’s probably not the best for our car, but on the other hand our car has been very competitive at every single race this year, so I think we can go there with our heads held high – we will try to do our best.”
The real threat comes from McLaren’s superior straight-line speed, provided by their innovative F-duct system which the competition has struggled to copy.
This is an area Vettel fears, especially if reports that the Renault engine is down on power when compared to the Mercedes engine are to be believed.
“I think the McLarens will be very strong there because, whatever you call them, the J-switch or F-duct system, should work very well again there. So we’ll see, but I think we have a very good chance. We’ll try to score the maximum amount of points.”
