Bernie Ecclestone is hoping the situation regarding tyre supply for the 2011 season will become clearer by the end of the Turkish GP weekend, but admitted progress on a decision had slowed.
Pirelli are expected to replace Bridgestone, who are leaving the sport at the end of the season, however the announcement which was expected this weekend looks likely to be delayed.
“I think we are getting there,” Autosport quote Ecclestone as saying. “We are getting organised now.”
“It could be Michelin, or Pirelli, or Avons – there are a lot of people out there,” Ecclestone explained. “I hope we will have something a bit firmer by the time we leave here.”
When asked why the decision was taking so long, Ecclestone replied: “We have 13 teams, we have the FIA, us, and three tyre companies. That is enough!”
