Lucas di Grassi will finally get his hands on the updated VR-01 chassis with a larger fuel tank and aerodynamic upgrades.
With the revelation that the VR-01 debuted in Bahrain couldn’t make the finish line thanks to a fuel tank which wasn’t able to hold enough fuel, Virgin worked tirelessly to upgrade the car having gained special dispensation from the FIA.
Timo Glock got his hands on the updated car at the Spanish GP, whilst Di Grassi had to wait until this weekend thanks to the Volcanic ash cloud which has caused major disruption in Europe.
“I’m really looking forward to racing in Turkey with the revised chassis and the new updates,” said Di Grassi.
“It has been difficult over the past two races because your best benchmark is always your own team-mate in the same equipment and I haven’t been able to make that comparison.
“It has also been difficult for the team running two different cars. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Simulators since Monaco to prepare myself for running with the new car and for the challenge of the Istanbul Park Circuit.”
