Williams have scrapped their Barcelona upgrades after Rubens Barrichello failed to progress through to Q2. Whilst his teammate, running the Chinese GP spec car, managed to secure P13.
The team have confirmed that they have removed the upgrades ahead of the race on Sunday, meaning both FW32’s will be near identical.
“The updates didn’t work so we have had to drop them and our cars are now the same.”
Barrichello confirmed after qualifying that the upgrades didn’t work at all, but he put much of his failure to progress into Q2 down to traffic.
“The fact is I couldn’t get a clear run,” said Barrichello. “That’s the problem – we have six cars that just go slowly.”
