Mark Webber reckons McLaren are hiding their true pace in the Spanish practice sessions.
The British duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson button finished atop the timesheets in first practice, but Webber reckons they were hiding their pace in the second session in which Red Bull claimed a 1-2.
“I haven’t particularly seen a huge amount of what has happened in that session, but for sure McLaren probably weren’t showing everything today,” Autosport quote Webber as saying.
Despite a slow start, both Red Bull’s finished quickest on Friday which Webber says is positive news for the team.
“Yeah, certainly a smooth one from both sides of the garage, that is a nice positive for the team. They have done a huge amount of work over the last few months, as all the teams have.
“Particularly last night, the guys worked like hell, very, very late night for our team and the boys deserve a smooth Friday. We have some stuff to go through tonight and hopefully will be well prepared for tomorrow.”
