Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi are both hoping to put the past four races behind them and finally score some points in Spain next weekend.
It hasn’t been the best start to the season for the rescued BMW team. Reliability issues and bad luck have seen the C29 cross the finish line just once at the hands of De la Rosa, whilst Kobayashi has completed just 19 competitive laps.
A new aero package and a track which is better suited to the Sauber car should see them in or close to the points according to De la Rosa who will race in front of his home crowd.
“We had a good winter test there and I have the feeling our car suits Barcelona better than some of the more recent tracks,” said Pedro. “For the Spanish Grand Prix we will also have a new aero package in place.
“I’m sure at the end of the race we will either be close to or in the points.”
Meanwhile, Kobayashi is hoping Sauber have solved their reliability issues allowing him to finish a race.
“We have been testing there over the winter. We have an update to the car and I believe our reliability problems are solved.
“I should have a good chance to finally go racing after I have only done 19 laps in total in all four races.”
