Norbert Haug has quashed rumours that the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher might not see out the year after some poor results in the opening three races.
The German took sixth and tenth in Bahrain and Australia respectively, but failed to finish in Malaysia thanks to a wheel nut failure.
Whilst his MGP01 clearly isn’t the quickest car on the grid, better results had been expected by his fans. The main concern is the consistent outperforming by his teammate. Rosberg has managed to beat his German compatriot in almost every session, even managing a podium finish in Malaysia.
Schumacher currently trails Rosberg by 26 points.
“It’s quite the contrary,” Haug told Bild. “I know that Michael is highly motivated and wants to make his comeback for the long term, with long term success.”
Haug noted the pace of the car wasn’t sufficient to win races, but once it was, he expects Schumacher to be right on the pace.
“As soon as the car can do it, so can Michael.”
“The fact that he has not had better results so far is not his fault. The true fans are experts and know exactly what has happened so far and why there is the points deficit.”
