“We have been lucky with the rain.” That is the view of FOM right’s holder Bernie Ecclestone who admits Formula One is still too boring.
Australia and Malaysia were both applauded for their action, however, they were both affected by rain showers at some point. Malaysia saw overtaking, but only because rain throughout qualifying resulted in a topsy-turvy grid.
The 79-year-old is pushing teams to find a solution to spice up the regulations in 2011, to improve the ‘show’. He met with them in Malaysia to discuss possible ideas, but whilst the finer details remain confidential, Ecclestone revealed a couple of his thoughts.
“Don’t be fooled, we have got to do something,” he told the Telegraph. “For the first time the teams have realised that they have to do something about it. We don’t need reverse grids, we just need more overtaking.”
When asked what he would do to achieve this, he replied: “make the front wing smaller and get rid of the double diffuser.”
The latter of which is already scheduled to take place next season.
Ecclestone then revealed another idea: “Actually why not just get a beautiful girl in and draw out the drivers for the top 10 [grid]?” He joked.
