Nick Heidfeld has been appointed as the new Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA) chairman.
Heidfeld was unable to secure a race seat for the 2010 season, meaning the German will have some spare time on his hands when he isn’t fulfilling his Mercedes test role.
Pedro de la Rosa will step down after securing a race seat with Sauber this year.
The F1 Times also understands that Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso will join De la Rosa in stepping down from their director roles. There teammate’s, Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa will takeover the roles.
